Diego Garcia Shoreline Revetment

Diego Garcia, a British Indian Ocean Territory atoll, is home to a United States Naval Support Facility.  The atoll experiences erosion on both the ocean-facing and lagoon-facing shorelines.  To protect critical infrastructure on the atoll, Sea Engineering was hired by GHD Group to replace an existing shoreline revetment that had not been engineered with an engineered one.  Sea Engineering scientists and engineers traveled to Diego Garcia with oceanic monitoring equipment to verify the oceanographic design parameters for the new revetment.  The team then designed a rock rubblemound shore protection revetment and provided on-site construction guidance as the revetment was built by Black Construction.
