Repair
Stoplog Slots, Dry-docks No. 2 and 3, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Pearl Harbor,
Hawai`i (1997)
Sea
Engineering installed four new stoplog doors and stainless steel door frames in
two of the dry-docks at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
Installation involved mounting 1/2 to 2 ton door frames in existing
openings in the concrete dry-dock faces. Work
involved water blasting, demolition, drilling and welding in water depths to 70
feet. All diving was done in
accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety standards EM 3985-1-1.
Sea Engineering, Inc. was selected as ROICC Pearl Harbor Construction
Office outstanding contractor for the first half of FY 1998 for superior
performance on this contract.

Ke`ehi
Lagoon Hazardous Waste Search and Recovery, O`ahu, Hawai`i (1994)
SEI, as
subconsultant to CET Environmental Services, Inc. of Seattle was responsible for
the search and recovery of toxic containers dumped into Ke`ehi Lagoon, in a
criminal pollution case that was called one of the state's worst environmental
emergencies. SEI located the
containers for the state after five other companies were unable to do so.
This led to the EPA-funded operation to locate and recover all the
containers, and to an FBI investigation to find the responsible parties. In
response to the EPA, Sea Engineering, Inc. mobilized rapidly to minimize
potential contamination to the marine environment and to assist in the FBI case. SEI utilized differential GPS, a high resolution sub-bottom
profiler, a digital side scan sonar, and an ROV mounted with scanning sonar and
real-time vessel tracking to locate and record the positions of the containers.
SEI then recovered the containers using in-house divers and boat
operators licensed in hazardous waste operations.
